Valuation of uncertainty for determination of menthol by gas chromatography

Abstract：The uncertainty of determination of menthol by gas chromatography was evaluated. The factors of determination results such as measurement repeatability, balance weighing, constant volume and instrument injection were analyzed, and the mathematical model was established. The content of menthol was determined by gas chromatography, and the uncertainty of determination of menthol was valuated according to Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2020 edition) and Evaluation and Expression of Measurement Uncertainty (JJF 1059.1—2012). When the mass fraction of menthol was k 100.12%, the extended uncertainty of the determination was 0.76%( =2). The uncertainty of menthol determination by gas chromatography was mainly introduced by the weighing of the sample and the dilution volume during the preparation of the sample. The method provided a scientific basis for the evaluation of the standardization of experimental operation.
